There are even those who categorically hate all pointy-toed shoes and use the phrase ‘Witch shoes’ dismissively. As for me, I simply shrug off any negativity regarding this classic style - as would anyone who has ever been lulled by the siren call of the perfect pair of pointy pumps. Let me hear you! Who is fascinated by how his maniacal fashion mind works as he manages to succeed in an industry that often crushes new designers and an economy that crushes everybody else? Me! I am!
I got a chance to talk to Christian at the Fall Release event for Payless at their showroom in Manhattan. I will admit that most of the information in the interview is paraphrased (hey, I had a notebook, not a tape recorder). But these are the facts. The cold, hard facts.
Part 1: Memories….la la la la
So we all remember the runway versions of Christian Siriano’s soon-to-be-ready-to-footwear. They were…aspirational. Celebrities starting wearing them even before they tripped lightly down the runway at his Fall 2009 show. Needless to say, the question of how those 7-inch stunners would be modified for a population who walks farther than runway–>limo–>premiere–>limo was foremost in my mind. Here’s a reminder of what the runway versions looked like:

Cute, but Ouch!
Part 2: Here comes the love
First of all, let me say that Siriano was the picture of graciousness throughout the Payless event. He chatted with all the journalists who were milling around, smiling and posing for photos. My Payless contact told me that he had come in on a red-eye flight that morning, but you certainly couldn’t tell by looking at him. After exchanging greetings, I dove into the interview.

<trackback:ping>http://www.shoesleather.net/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=14&key=d44d16bb</trackback:ping>

Boot Hunt: R2 Devi

So, this message was left on my Facebook account by a desperate friend:
OK shoe queen…I want these shoes in a 7.5, 8, or 8.5. I don’t care help me find them!

To add insult to injury, she had apparently placed these in her Piperlime shopping cart - but for some reason waited until the morning to buy them…and by then, it was too late!
So far, I have had no luck finding these in anything other than a size 6, and she is a 7.5 but is willing to go up or down a half size. In fact, I have actually only found a couple of retailers that are even still carrying this shoe (DSW, Famous Footwear & Shoes.com).
Please, if you see these online or in a retailer near you, let us know so that we can help her to find these retro ankle boots.

<trackback:ping>http://www.shoesleather.net/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=13&key=e5813c8e</trackback:ping>

Christian Siriano: Spring 2010 Runway Collection Sneek Peek

Christian Siriano introduced his Spring ‘10 Runway collection at Payless Shoe Source in New York during Fashion’s Night Out. Now, I don’t know if these shoes will be in my neighborhood Payless, or if they will make them less “runway” looking, or if these are a llimited edition for only New York. Last year we saw Payless take his hot runway shoes and make them consumer friendly (average).

These are what the model wore at the sneak peek.

Christian and the current display.

Payless Shoe Source is trying to make unusual shoes available to the lower end market. They also have Alice+Olivia limited edition designs available. We’ll see how well this line does in the stores.

<trackback:ping>http://www.shoesleather.net/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=12&key=2e7ddd73</trackback:ping>

Stretching Your Leather Shoes For a Better Fit

Occasionally leather shoes fit like a glove in the shop, but after they are bought and worn for any period they start to punish the feet. In numerous cases the shoes are too tight for comfort, and they finish up causing distressing blisters. The material can be stiff, tight, and the shoes can make an agonizing problem, but luckily leather is moldable, and it can be stretched to fit completely. Rather than casting aside a new pair of leather shoes that feel too tight, consider the following method to stretch the material.
My pop works alongside leather, and he uses the following strategy to stretch the leather boots he makes by hand. Once the material is custom stretched to fit the feet, possibilities are they're going to become the most snug pair of boots you own.
Precautionary Statement: When unsure, apply the following treatments in an inconspicuous area before trying on plain areas of leather boots. Also, before using any system to stretch leather shoes, apply a fine quality leather moisturizer to the exterior. This may help forestall the material from splitting and cracking in the stretching process. Follow product label instructions for most impressive results.
Ice Technique to Stretch Leather Shoes: One tried and tested way to stretch leather shoes is the ice methodology. Fill a robust bag 3/4 of the way full with water, and seal the top soundly to avoid leaks. Place the bag of water into the shoe you need to stretch, and ensure the bag takes up excess space in the area where the shoe is too tight. Place the shoe in the refrigerator, and permit the water to freeze absolutely and stretch the material before removal. As the water freezes it will naturally expand and stretch the leather. Though this strategy doesn't result in a custom fit, it'll stretch the material if the bag expands the inside of the shoe in the right locations.
Jack Daniels is a full time writer who speacializes on writing articles related to Energy resources. The various kinds of leather that are used can include plastic leathers, vegan, koskin and leatherette and the rest. So different leathers are used for different makes of leather shoes for instance split leathers are used in making suede shoes.
However, I would not want anyone reading this to believe am opinionated about Italian leathers, good shoes are also made in the US and other countries around the world. For instance, the best moccasins are made in the US and moccasins are purely leather product. Birkenstock originated from Germany.
So, when next you stop at shoes stores to buy shoes always look for Italian leather shoes. Though they could be more expensive but you will get your satisfaction.

<trackback:ping>http://www.shoesleather.net/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=9&key=e1f96794</trackback:ping>

Take care of leather shoes

What really makes these leather shoes to be so unique and tick? The answer to this is simply expertise. History has it that the best leather factories long time ago were in Italy. So because of these, Italian shoe makers have perfected their work to the extent that one can rightly call them gurus.
We should also know that not only are Italian leather shoes beautifully crafted, they are shoes that will endure wear and tear for a long time to come. They will pass the test of time for years to come. Some claim that they have even shown Italian shoes bought years back to their great grand children.
Another fascinating thing about these shoes is that they can be easily stretched. If you are feeling they are too tight just take them to your shoe repairer and in matter of 24 hours it would have been stretched to your size.

<trackback:ping>http://www.shoesleather.net/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=8&key=3ceeb937</trackback:ping>

What Makes Italian Leather Shoes Tick

I was reading an article sometimes ago on one of the big article sites when suddenly something insanely true becomes clear to me. The article writer was talking about why Italian leather shoes should not be expensive. He claimed that if one buys an Italian leather shoe one is paying for both the craftsmanship and the brand name. He also said that Italian leather shoes though once thought to be the best around is the same with any shoe made in the UK or USA.
Now, after carefully reading the article, I sensed bias and sentiment on part of the writer. I now realized why some people just do not like the term 'Made In Italy' tag tagged on their beautiful leather shoes, maybe they want 'Made in UK' or 'Made in Russia' to be on the shoes.
But, will it not be nice not to show so much sentiment about the product so craftily made in Italy? Italian leather shoes have been known world over to be durable, comfortable, and beautiful. They exude beauty and elegance on the foot of the person trying them out.

<trackback:ping>http://www.shoesleather.net/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=7&key=6fbdaa57</trackback:ping>

Why Most Men Prefer Quality Leather Shoes To Other Materials

Like most men I would rather wear quality leather shoes than any other. If you work on your feet all day, regardless of whether it is as a laborer or business professional you probably prefer wearing leather shoes to synthetic materials. Leather shoes and boots have been relied on for hundreds of years for their resilience and the way that they protect our feet.
Most leather shoes are made from cowhide but they can also come from other animals such as exotics like ostrich or snakeskin. Fine quality men’s leather shoes are made from only the highest quality leather. Italian shoemakers are famous for hand selecting the leather they will use for a shoe and then hand sewing the shoes as well. Another very popular form of leather for men’s shoes is suede.

<trackback:ping>http://www.shoesleather.net/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=6&key=5e1fcb37</trackback:ping>
